Son's eye swollen and irritated?

My son is 16 months and I think he might be getting a sinus infection. His face looks to be a little swollen and his nose is running and he sounds very congested. Not a chest congestion its definitely in his head. For the past few days he has been waking up with both eyes matted shut, one is worse than the other. It has caused the one eye to become very swollen red and irritated on the bottom eye lid. Is there anything I can do to help? I can't take him into the Dr. until Monday. He really hates warm compresses, could there be anything I could put on it until we make it to the Dr.?
